REGULATING PSYCHOLOGISTS IN NOVA SCOTIA SINCE 1980

How to Become a Board Member

The Board is composed of 5 members who are psychologists and 3 members of the public.

According to the Psychologists Act, the Board shall include 5 members who are registered psychologists, in good standing. Registrants of the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners in Psychology elect the psychologist members of the Board through an election process.  For the Regulations on elections of psychologist members, please click here.

The Act also requires that the Board include 3 members of the public to sit on the Board. Public members are neither registered psychologists nor candidates, and they are appointed by the Governor in Council. For more information about becoming a public member, please click here.
